Fantezze Quon'zt

D

rinn on the other hand was on the northern woods of Firolwen. He was at the heart of the woods where masses of trees covered the ray of the suns above. Peaceful and silent was that morning, the birds were singing a morning song when Drinn got up from sleep. He picked apples for his breakfast, and after a munch he head north again till he found a river, he drank on it and washed himself up. The water was as clear as a crystal sparkling from the newly risen suns and reflecting the blue sky above. It was cold and refreshing that made Drinn to stay for about half an hour then he started his journey once more. After four days and a half of striding, he found the prophet’s temple “It was a mere luck.” Drinn said as if someone directed his ways. It was on a wide open field of green lawn. At the middle of the field, a stone throw away was the temple and white pebbles encircled the ground where the white temple stood still. There was a fountain in front and a big stone curved as a sword and was aged as it appeared. An Amulen Stone was placed at the sword’s hilt gleaming against the suns. Drinn knocked at the door and it was quickly opened by an elven lady.
“You’ve been expected Chosen One, you just arrive on time.” the elven lady said as she bowed her head. She was an elf with a long blonde hair, fair and young was her face and eyes of deep green.
“I’m Sereelien the daughter of Serlantes and servant of the Prophet. I’m honored to meet you. The Prophet is waiting for you. Come, follow me.”
The elven lady led Drinn inside a hall, and then they turned right into a long narrow way where a door was at the end. “You are to enter the room alone Chosen One,” said she, “I’ll be waiting for you outside the temple as soon as the prophet gave you a word.” Sereelien then bowed her head and then she slowly opened the door to let Drinn enter the room.
The room was pleasant, painted white, peaceful and solemn and he found Prophet Glahei sitting on the floor with legs crossed. He was old and gray, his brows where like a snow and his beard was white and long and wisdom was evident in his weak eyes.
“You may sit Chosen One.” the Prophet said with a little smile on his face.
Drinn sat in front of the Prophet and softly said “I’ve been sent here by Quinlan. He told me to inquire of you.”
“Yes I know, and my delight is complete. I’m coming home in Quinlan’s land.” Prophet Glahei replied.
“What do you mean sir?” Drinn asked.
“Until I met the Chosen One I am not to die.” he replied “Now I declare you as the Chosen One, a Knight, and a Warrior. You will stand up against evil, lead a victorious war and declare freedom to Neriwonda. Again I knighted you in Quinlan’s authority, Drinn the White Warrior.”
“Listen carefully son. You are to take the road going east to Thuddin-Imal Mountain. There you are to find the castle on the clouds. Inside the castle you will look for Amulen Stones. Those are the magical stones that cast away evil. Then you will head south east and there you will find the Ocean of Quariumora, below the ocean look for the blade of Quinlan. And after that you will definitely know where to go.”
“But I’m not sure if I can find those places.” said Drinn softly.
“Don’t you worry, Sereelien will accompany you.” the prophet replied. The prophet then picked up a sword beside him and continued “Here is a sword you can use, and outside Sereelien was preparing a white horse, you can use him in your next journey. Now you may go.”
“Thank you Prophet Glahei.” Drinn replied bowing his head, he picked the sword and went out of the room.
Outside the temple Sereelien was waiting for him, she was riding a black horse and a white horse was beside him. The horses had bags tied beside them as it appeared to be foods and some things they’ll need for the journey.
“Are you ready to find the Castle on the Clouds?” Sereelien said softly hiding tears on her eyes, for she knew that the prophet was about to pass away. “We have enough food for five days journey and I guess we could find the Castle on the Clouds within two to three days.”
“Wait we’re going to find it?” Drinn inquired. “I thought you know the way?”
“Yes I absolutely know the way, but you’re the only one who can find it.” Sereelien replied. “The Castle on the Clouds is one of Neriwonda’s myths. They say that it is an invisible castle at the Mountain of Thuddin-Imal, and none could see it except for the Chosen One, and that’s you. Elves strongly believe on that myth”
“Here is Lightning,” the elf said pointing at the white horse, “He is the Prophet’s horse and he entrusted it to you. We should start our journey.”

Drinn and Sereelien started their journey to find the castle on the clouds. They galloped for a whole day passing rivers, hills and sometimes a wide open field. They passed a horde of wild horses racing beside a river the next day, and different kinds of animals you would find on the wild. It was about to get dark, Coltranthum and Genevier was sinking between the two great mountains on west when the two of them decided to take a rest. They sat together with their backs on a big tree and eat what the elf brought on their journey. It was an elven bread, tasty and a little bit sweet.
“How long have you been with the Prophet?” Drinn inquired of the elf as they eat.
“King Daryn appointed my father Serlantes and I, as the guardians of the Prophet. Long time ago when everything was in peace, and we’re living on the castle of Clenn-Daryn.” Sereelien replied. “It was during the great war that we depart from the castle and head east. My father dies during the escape.”
   “I’m sorry.” said Drinn.
   “Its alright.” replied Sereelien.
“How did you know the place where the Castle on the Clouds is, if as you said that none could see it?” Drinn inquired again.
“Prophet Glahei had showed me. As Quinlan showed it to him in dreams.” said Sereelien. “He told me that there will be a day of my life that I’m going to lead the Chosen there. And it is happening right now.”

Night came, the moon was waning and the stars were few.  They put a bonfire and they sleep at the big trunk of the tree. It was during that night when Drinn got another dream. In his dream, he was standing in front of a cliff, he looked down and there’s no sign of a river or a water where he is about to fall. He will surely die if he is to fall. Then Drinn heard a voice saying “He who is wise use the eyes of the heart. And faith determines if he will fall or not.” The dream then faded and Drinn woke up, it was early in the morning, Sereelien was already awake eating her breakfast. After Drinn ate his, they continued their journey again passing a long valley and after that the road ascends gradually for they were at the foot of Thuddin-Imal. Then when it was late in the afternoon about five, they reached the woods at the mountain where they galloped for three hours till they came in a dell at the middle of the woods.
The elf looked at the place as if she was reading the trees and remembering an old memory and then she said “This is the place Drinn. Can you see anything, a castle or a stairway?”
Drinn looked carefully around as hard as he could and said “No, there was nothing I can see but trees. Are you sure this is the place?”
“Yes I’m sure this is the place. Look carefully Drinn, you might see something unusual.”
Drinn stood still, he closed his eyes and then he felt a soft wind blowing in front of him. “Wait for me here Sereelien. If I’m not back within two to three days that means I failed.”
“What do you mean Drinn?” the elf started to wonder.
“I now know where the Castle on the Clouds is,” Drinn said “Just wait for me here.”

Drinn leave his horse with Sereelien and head towards the forest where he felt the wind was coming until he found a cliff exactly like what he had in his dream. He stood at the edge of the cliff; there is no river or any body of water below. The wind was blowing hard as the sound of the wind whistled at Drinn’s ears. He closed his eyes and said “He who is wise use the eyes of the heart. And faith determines if he will fall or not.” And then Drinn slowly took one step forward, but instead of falling from the cliff his feet touched a firm ground. He then moved his left foot and still he felt a firm ground so he decided to open his eyes. Drinn was amazed for he was not on the cliff anymore, he was standing on a gold stairway ascending to the clouds and he can’t see the upper part of the stair nor below, for it was covered by thick clouds. “I think this is the place.” he said and started to climb the long stairways.

His heart was glad on finding the stairway but it soon vanished as he got tired, for it seemed that it was an unending stair, and Drinn passed a thousand steps or more. The wind was freezing cold and the stairways went on and on, his eyes became heavy so he decided to sat down and have a rest. His eyes were about to close and to fell into sleep when someone called him.
“You should not sleep there stranger or you might fall!” said a female voice. There in front of Drinn was two Cloud Fairies floating. One has a green hair and the other has blue.
“Can you help me find the Castle on the Clouds?” Drinn said.
“Wait, can he see us my dear sister Ellyze?” said the blue-haired fairy.
“I don’t think so my dear sister Estee.” the green-haired fairy replied. “He is a human, and as we all know none can see us, except cloud fairies like us.”
“But how did he found the stair?” Estee said who seemed very puzzled.
“Yes I can see both of you!” Drinn interrupted them. The two fairies were surprised and quickly flew away from the stair, looking at Drinn intently.
Drinn smiled, for the fairies appeared as if they saw a ghost and it took away his weariness and heavy eyes. “Don’t be scared I’m a friend can you please help me find the Castle?”
“He can really see us my dear sister Estee.” Ellyze said who still was amazed.
Estee look as if she realized something wonderful and said “And if he can see us my dear sister Ellyze, he might be–”
“Yes my dear sister Estee you’re right!” Ellyze said gladly. “He is the Chosen One and he is a human.”
“But– I thought the Chosen One is– seven feet tall my dear sister Estee?” Ellyze continued.
“Well, he can see us. And that’s a proof that he is the Chosen One my dear sister Ellyze.” replied Estee.
“So can we talk to him now my dear sister Estee?” Ellyze asked.
“I guess we can my dear sister Ellyze.” Estee answered.
Drinn put his hand on his forehead, “Finally!” he said. “Now, will you take me to the Castle on the Clouds?”
“Allow us first to introduce ourselves.” Estee said. “I’m Estee and this is my twin sister Ellyze. We are called Cloud Fairies, invisible to the naked eye.”
“Please to meet you Estee and Ellyze. I’m Drinn of Hywel.” he replied.
“We’re please to meet you Drinn the Chosen One!” Estee said. “My dear sister Ellyze you know what to do!” and the fairies flew at Drinn’s both side and carried him on his shoulders.
The cold wind was at their face as they flew upward and after passing thick clouds, they reached the utmost, and in front of them was a castle floating in the air shimmering magnificently at the radiance of the moon, for the castle was made of gold.
Estee then uttered a chant in a strange tongue and the castle’s big door slowly opened as a blazing white light came out from inside the castle that Drinn couldn’t see anything. They entered the door and suddenly the light vanished and they were in a strange place. Strange was the place for it seems like that they were not inside a castle, and above them was the night sky with white stars spread and the moon shining bright. The breeze was a bit cold and there were sounds crickets and of water flowing in the still and quiet night. Drinn saw big dark grey silhouettes that stood in front of him that it appeared to be statues, he looked closely and he was right. They were statues of fairies that seemed to be as the king and queen, and another one beside him were a statue of a man holding a sword fighting a big wolf. A pleasant smell of flowers enveloped the place for they were in fact in a garden. Behind them was a big black hole encircled by vines. Looking inside the hole, none was visible it was just pitch black.
“Welcome to the Gate of Fantezze Quon’zt!” said Estee. “You’re most welcome here Chosen One.”
   “Fantezze what?” inquired Drinn.
“Fantezze Quon’zt, the land of the Cloud Fairies.” replied Estee. “The Castle on the Clouds is just a portal towards Fantezze Quon’zt.” said Ellyze. “You’re the first, and I guess you would be the last man who entered Fantezze Quon’zt. And that is your statue.” the fairy pointed out the man with a sword fighting a wolf.
Drinn looked puzzled and said “A statue of me?”
“Yes, that statue was sculpted long ago,” Ellyze answered “It was sculpted as a prophecy about the Chosen One. And tomorrow you are about to fulfill the prophecy.”
“And what does the prophecy says? What am I to do?” Drinn inquired.
Estee levitated an inch as he glowed blue she said “You are to set our mother the queen free. She was captured long time ago by a dark power somewhere in the forest of Mirba.” Estee paused a moment and her face turned grave and her glow slowly fades, “It was a hundred years or more, we’re waiting for the Chosen One. Our father’s patience end, and decided to rescue our mother himself. He failed and he passed away.”
“I’m very sorry.” Drinn answered softly. “And what is that dark power, who captured the queen?”
“The Dark Wolf.” said Ellyze who was glowing green. “It was created by a dark fairy from of Mirba named Kizla, but the Dark Wolf knows no master and killed even Kizla.”
“Why did the Dark Wolf took the queen?” Drinn said.
“It was a part of the Dark Wolf’s purpose.” said Estee. “It was created to imprison the queen.”
“I guess as the Chosen One you definitely know what to do right?” said Ellyze.
“I’ll do my best to set the queen free.” answered Drinn bravely, although he wasn’t sure of what to do or even a hint on how to rescue the Queen.
They took a minute of walk and soon they came out of the garden. The place was like a rich town, there were lamp posts on the street, and the houses were like small castles and were painted with different colors such as green, violet, yellow and blue. There were also few hansoms pulled by transparent horses on the road passing by. And there at the side of the street was a big dark green hansom filled with elegant gold designs stood still and a male fairy who seemed to be the cabby was sitting on the driver’s seat.
“Good heavens Princess Estee!” the Cabby Fairy cried as he took out his black hat. He flew down from the hansom and went nearer at Drinn. “If my eyes aren’t wrong, is he in fact a human?”
“Yes he is, and he’s not just a human.” Estee replied “He is the Chosen One.”
“Please take us to the castle right away.”
“I’m very please to meet you Chosen One!” the cabby bowed his head. “I’m Deegee at your service sir.”
“Thanks Deegee, and please to meet you too.” Drinn said.

Drinn’s eyes were fixed at the hansom’s window as they travel on the road to the castle. For the land of Fantezze Quon’zt was too magical as he saw floating houses, gold and silver trees, a Pegasus, a Phoenix and some things he couldn’t explain. Soon they were on a long bridge as they crossed a great river. Peering out from the river was a huge sea creature with a long neck. After they passed the bridge, the road became narrow and straight, and lamp posts were at the right side of the road. And then they slowed down as they entered the gate of the castle. There were two male fairies at the side of the gate wearing armor, a sword at their side and a long iron scepter at their hands. And then again they were in a garden road filled with statues of fairy kings and queens. Soon they stopped beside a small castle as the size of a house.
“Your going to stay here Drinn.” said Ellyze, as Deegee the Cabby Fairy opened the hansom’s door.
“We’re going to see you again tomorrow master Drinn.” said Deegee.
“Goodnight Chosen One!” the fairies said in chorus.
“Goodnight sir!” Deegee added as he took off his hat.
Drinn stepped at side of the road “Goodnight to the three of you!” he replied and the hansom started to went on again towards the main castle.
He looked at the quiet house where he is about to stay as if something was too different. A smoke was coming out of the chimney and a green light was shinning inside. He went towards the door and before he even touched the door knob the door slowly opened. He took a few steps inside the strange house, he was about to close the door when suddenly it closed all by itself. He carefully looked inside and what quickly got his attention was an oil lamp floating in the middle of the room. It was made of dark green shiny metal and it appears to have face and hands as it glowed a green shinning light. Drinn went closer and looked intently at the oil lamp when all of a sudden the oil lamp spoke.
“Do I have dirt on my face sir?” the oil lamp asked. Drinn was surprised that he took one step backwards. “Well if it is oil, it would be fine, it is natural. I am an oil lamp after all.” said the oil lamp.
“No! You’re… looking… you’re looking good and…” replied Drinn uncertainly not knowing what to say, “Good and fine! Yeah, you’re looking good and fine.”
“And as I see, you’re a talking lamp?”
“What would you expect for an oil lamp? Of course we do speak!” the oil lamp bragged “We’re not like chairs that sit there all day. Oh the lazy ones! And don’t forget their cousin table. And door who knows nothing but to open and close. And sometimes they’re a bit noisy like what he did a few minutes ago.” answered the oil lamp pompously. “Anyway, what would be the name of my master?”
“I am Drinn of Hywel, please to meet you.” Drinn said “And you are?”
“Well, nice to meet you master Drinn. My name is Greenyoilylampee the noble oil lamp at your service sir.” the oil lamp replied very fast in an accent that sounded like of an Italian.
“Nice to meet you too Greenylampee?” said Drinn.
“It’s Greenyoilylampee master Drinn.” The oil lamp repeated.
“Sorry! Greeny-oily-lampee, did I say it correctly?” continued Drinn.
“No, no, no! It’s not Greeny-oily-lampee?” Greenyoilylampee said. “It’s Greeny-yoily-lampee. It’s yoily not oily. And then you should pronounce it continuously.”
“Okay Greenyoilylampee. Do you have a shorter name?” Drinn asked.
“It’s already a shorter one,” Greenyoilylampee replied, “My real name is Greenyoilylampeefieryfineebrightly.”
“Oh Greenyoilylampee would be fine!” said Drinn.
“So what can I do for you master Drinn?” Greenyoilylampee said.
“Can I have something to eat? I’m starving.” requested Drinn.
“Okay come with me master Drinn.” said Greenyoilylampee as it flew near the table. “Sit down master Drinn.” Drinn sat at the table where different kinds of food were prepared and he started to eat. After he finished his dinner he went to the bathroom washed himself, and Greenyoilylampee led him to his room.
“Is there anything you need master Drinn?” asked Greenyoilylampee before Drinn closed the door.
“No, I would be fine, and, thanks Greenyoilylampee.” He answered.
“Very well then, just call me if you need anything,” said Greenyoilylampee, “Goodnight master Drinn!”
“Goodnight Greenyoilylampee!” was Drinn’s reply and then he sat down at the edge of the bed. At the stillness of the night the moon was peering out at the window and shedding a light in his room.
“What is waiting for me here Quinlan?” he whispered as he looked out of the window. “Will you speak to me tonight?”
“From now on, I don’t want to do anything on my own. Give me wisdom.” Drinn sighed and closed his eyes, and tried to listen with his heart and heard a word saying “No matter how strong, how powerful is the enemy. Strike it in the eye, and you’ll defeat it completely.” He recited it again and again until he memorized it, then he held his dove necklace and whispered “Goodnight Princess Meyah!”

The warriors of the Chosen One, as Halvene called them had just camped on a valley far north of Vennashan. And as Princess Meyah was stirring a pot of boiling hare that Reginleif and Halvene hunted, she thought she heard something. “Goodnight Princess Meyah!” was the word she heard that night, so she asked Sindri who was with her preparing their supper.
“Did you say something Sindri?” the Princess asked.
Sindri was skinning a hare and curiously said “What? No, I did not say a thing, not even a single word.”
“I thought I heard someone saying ‘Goodnight.’” she replied. “Well, never mind it Sindri. Maybe it’s just my imagination.” She smiled with her usual bright smiling face.
“I guess tomorrow we’ll be at the Woods of the Dryads by afternoon.” Sindri said. “They might have news about Drinn.”
The Princess sat on a rock as she tasted the soup on the pot, and then she asked “News about Drinn? Why would they know anything about him?”
“Well, dryads are the best messengers if you are to ask.” replied the dwarf as he put the skinned rabbit on the pot. “As you know that their lives were on the tree. They can secretly whisper a word in the air and the leaves will carry it out passing it to another tree. But only their kin was able to hear what ever the word was in the leaves.”
“So we might even hear news about Firolwen from Ilan or other dryads from of Firolwen?” Princess Meyah said, “Is it right Sindri?”
“Absolutely right!” replied Sindri “So it’s really a good thing that Halvene suggest that we first head to the Woods of the Dryads.”
“Have you been there before?” said the Princess.
“No I haven’t but my forefathers do.” answered Sindri. “And I guess our dinner is ready! I’m so hungry!” When they were all satisfied with the dinner, they rest for awhile and had a few conversations about the dryads. And then they all went to sleep.

Drinn opened his eyes and was dazzled with the sun gleaming at the window. It was already morning and there were birds on the window but strangely they don’t chirp but they kept on saying “Good Morning!” with their small voices. Drinn stood up and washed himself up and then he went at the dinning table. He found out that breakfast was already prepared; there were eggs, toasts, coffee, and some foods that were new to him and it was good as he tasted it. After his breakfast he took his sword and went out of the house and saw Greenyoilylampee who was busy watering the flowers as he sang on a high tenor voice.

Oh you lovely roses that dances with the wind
And sunflowers you are the sun’s best friend
Oh beautiful daisies kissed by the butterflies
Not to mention you my lovely violets who smells very nice

“Good morning Greenyoilylampee!” Drinn greeted the singing oil lamp.
“Oh! You’re already awake master Drinn.” Greenyoilylampee said. “Good morning! Had you eat your breakfast yet?”
“Yes I did. Thank you, it was very good.” Drinn replied. “Will you take me to the Princesses, Estee and Ellyze?”
“Oh! Of course I will!” Greenyoilylampee replied, “I’m just waiting for you to come out. Haven’t you seen Deegee? He’s out there.” And Greenyoilylampee pointed out the Cabby Fairy on his Hansom at the other side of the road.
“Good morning master Drinn!” Deegee greeted with his usual taking off of his hat.
“Good morning!” Drinn answered, “And I’m sorry I didn’t notice you at once!”
“Come on Master Drinn Princess Estee and Princess Ellyze must be waiting by now.” said Greenyoilylampee as he flew beside Deegee.

After a minute of ride, Drinn, Greenyoilylampee, and Deegee arrived at the entrance of the main Castle of Fantezze Quon’zt. As Drinn went out from the hansom he saw how huge the castle was, for it was trice the size of the castle of Hywel. Not to mention that there was a big green garden inside. The road at the garden was filled with pebbles and as they went by Drinn often saw gems of different colors such as red, green, blue, violet, yellow and magenta mixed with the pebbles. Flowers also were of different kinds but what got Drinn’s attention were not the flowers but the butterflies which are gold and silver in color. A huge fountain was also present in the garden, it was about ten feet high and as the water flow a very beautiful music was coming out of it and the water were splashing as if it was dancing at the sound of the music. Too wonderful it was to gaze at, but as Drinn stared at it, his eyes felt heavy.
“Don’t stare too long at the fountain master Drinn,” said Deegee, “Or you’ll end up sleeping at the road. You feel sleepy don’t you master Drinn?”
Drinn shook his head and said “Yeah I already did, but why?”
“It’s called the sleeping fountain.” Deegee replied.
“This world really is too magical.” said Drinn. “And why did they make a fountain such as that?”
“It’s been there for a long, long time ago.” Deegee replied. “It was already there when I was born and it has a tale of its own which the old fairies only knew.”

After a minute of walk at the garden they came up at the castle’s great hall where some fairies were busy cleaning and they all suddenly stopped as soon as they saw them coming.
“Is he in fact a human Deegee?” said one male fairy.
“Yes he is!” answered Deegee proudly.
“A human?!” interrupted a small voice behind the fairy who just asked Deegee about Drinn. “But what is a human?” the voice continued and it was a broom.
“You’ve just seen him and you’re asking what a human is?” Greenyoilylampee interrupted. “Just go on with your business Broohoohoomphee we are about to see the Princesses.”
“If I may to ask, is he the Chosen One?” asked a female fairy.
“Yes, he is who we are waiting for.” Deegee replied “The one who will set the Queen free from the Dark Wolf.”
Another female fairy said “But I thought the– that the– the Chosen One is–”
“Seven feet tall?!” Drinn answered grinning. “I already memorized that phrase.”
“Will you excuse us sir and madam fairies but we can’t be delayed.” Greenyoilylampee interrupted again. “We’ll see you later.”
Soon after passing different halls they reach the place where the two Princess where, and they were in fact at the terrace.
“Excuse me your highness Princess Estee and Princess Ellyze.” Deegee said. “The Chosen One is here.”
“Oh good morning Chosen One!” greeted Estee who just stopped combing her long straight blue hair and was wearing a shinny white satin Dress. “Did Greenyoilylampee serve you fine?”
“Good morning Princess Estee. And yes he iss a good oil lamp. And a talking oil lamp.” Drinn answered. “Well, if I may to ask how am I to rescue the queen. And do you have an idea where am I to find the Amulen Stones?”
“About our mother the Queen we are sure where to find her, but I never heard about Amulen Stones.” Estee said. “Nonetheless we can give you gems, pearls, diamonds, silver and gold.”
“I need not any treasures. The Amulen Stone is one of my purposes for coming here.” he answered. “Well, I can’t waste any time for an elf friend of mine iss waiting for me. I only have three days to rescue the Queen and to find the Stones.”
“By that do you mean to rescue our mother today?” Ellyze said.
   “Yes Princess Ellyze.” Drinn replied.
“Very well, Deegee will take you as long as there is a road for the horse and the hansom.” said Estee. “For when you arrive at the edge of the forest of Mirba, you are to stride. Deegee and Greenyoilylampee will be your guide through the forest up to the cave of Mirba.”
“What!” Greenyoilylampee exclaimed and he zigzagged in the air on a great panic. “But your highness, I’m an oil lamp and a butler. I– I don’t know if can– I suppose you know how dangerous the forest and of course the cave is!”
Ellyze then stood up from her chair “You are to take Drinn or else I will take all your oil off of you.” she threatened.
“Good heavens, it will surely take my breath away your highness!” said Greenyoilylampee.
“That’s exactly the point.” Ellyze answered. “So what would be your answer oil lamp?”
“I guess I have no choice.” Greenyoilylampee said scratching his head.
“And I guess I too have no choice.” whispered Deegee.
“Deegee will prepare everything you need for the journey Drinn.” said Estee. “And if everything is ready you can start your journey.”
