Great Surprise
rinn woke up and his vision was slowly clearing up. He saw a vague form sitting beside his bed. “Are you alright Drinn?” said a familiar voice.
“Is it you Brib?” Drinn asked.
“Yes it’s I, do you need anything?” Bribble offered.
Drinn’s sight returned and he saw his friend Bribble clearly smiling on him. “No thanks Brib. We are in Hywel isn’t it?” Drinn smiled as he inquired.
“Yes we are.” Bribble said.
“How long am I lying on this bed?” Drinn asked as he slowly sat on the bed.
“Four days after we return from Amarash.” answered Bribble.
“Did we win?” Drinn said.
“Yes we did.” Bribble replied. “We are aided by the Cloud Fairies, yet none had seen them except for me and the Kitchen Dwarves.”
“I have so many stories to tell you Drinn.” he proudly said.
“At last the White Warrior is awake!” said a voice coming form the door. “How’s your wound Drinn?”
“Oh, it’s you Reginleif.” Drinn said. “I guess its fine already.”
Drinn paused for a moment as if something came in his mind “Did… Did the Princess…” Drinn wavered “Did Princess Meyah made it?”
Reginleif’s face saddened as he lowered his head. “She didn’t make it my friend.”
There was a sudden silence between the three of them inside the room and Reginleif broke the silence “But, you just woke up on time Drinn. Everyone is about to go back on their lands, and we are having a little feast on the hall. You may say goodbye to them before they leave, if you can stand.”
“Can you Drinn?” Bribble butted in.
“I guess I could.” Drinn replied.
“Very well then, wear your best and we’ll be waiting for you on the hall.” said Reginleif.
“I’ll accompany Drinn, you go ahead Reginleif.” Bribble said.
The hall was splendid with different kinds of delicious foods and adorned with ornaments for a royal gathering as Drinn and Bribble arrived. It was a great reunion for there in the hall were all of Drinn’s friends, Reginleif, Eanna, Halvene, Hanguel, Brandeoulf, Sereelien, Brinsop in a human form, Sindri, Brokk, Tuulikki, King Mathias, Queen Reyah, Princess Shayna, King Dunates, Ganhywn, Eliour, Ecklaer, Zuriel, King Hilran, General Paaldriid and Mrs. Kettlery. They were all dressed on their best and they were all wearing a smile as Drinn entered the hall.
“We’re glad that you are fine Drinn.” King Mathias said.
“I’m glad to see all of you.” Drinn replied. Yet his smile was short-lived as if his eyes were trying to find a person he would die to see.
“Are you looking for me?” said a female voice from behind Drinn.
Drinn slowly turned, afraid that his instinct had gone wrong for he taught that the voice was of Princess Meyah. As he turned, he saw a lady dressed in a dazzling blue gown, she was smiling back at Drinn as her tiara sparkled with the chandeliers of the candles.
“Are you looking for me?” she said.
“Princess Meyah...” Drinn said as the Princess threw herself on Drinn’s arms.
“I thought that you…” he said.
“Yes I did.” the Princess cut him short.
“They said that I lay dead for two days. And one day my mother entered the room and she saw a dove on my chest. And as she entered the room, the dove flew away, and I awake.”
“Quinlan has brought me back to life Drinn.” she said and they embraced each other for a long moment, as the crowd applauds at them.
“Did we just orchestrate the most out of your meeting Drinn?!” said Reginleif grinning, and beside him was Bribble with a merry smile.
“I will kill the two of you later!” Drinn replied in a manner of a joke, as their laughter echoed in the huge hall of Hywel.
“For the freedom of Neriwonda!” said King Mathias raising his glass, and joyous hands came up as glass clanged inside the cheery hall.
Five months had past and Neriwonda was restored, the lands would have no need of an Amulen Stone for Vibac and the Amarashans were finally destroyed. The city of Lughnien and the castle of Clenn-Daryn has been re-established. Even Firolwen Forest was renewed and Zuriel being the leader of the aderyns, put Reginleif in charged of Firolwen.
There was a great merriment in Firolwen for there were two celebrations held in the great forest at the same time. The first one was the alleging of Reginleif as the leader of Firolwen and second was a wedding, a wedding between two aderyns.
Zuriel stood beside the two enamored aderyns holding each other’s hands. Reginleif was stunning in his attire a red knight silk shirt inside his elegant armor, as the custom of the aderyns, while Eanna was beautiful as ever in her enchanting white wedding gown with chiffon angel sleeves and sweetheart neckline. Her elegant wedding dress was accented with fine ivory rope cording wrapped around the bodice front and back attached with a button at the center neckline. Perfect was her feature that no one would ever taught that she was an excellent archer and one of the finest aderyn warrior.
And Zuriel finally stated the last line for the wedding. “By the authority that Quinlan has bestowed upon me, I now pronounce you husband and wife!”
“Hurray for the newly weds!” Hanguel shouted as the two aderyn kissed, and the forest rained out with thousands of tulips in different colors falling freely on Firolwen Forest.
“It’s beautiful!” Princess Meyah said who was beside Drinn.
“Look the dragons are dropping the tulips from the sky.” Drinn said pointing at the sky. “I’ve never seen Brinsop flying as merrily as that.”
As they all cheered on the newly wedded aderyn couples, Quinlan appeared in the midst of them, and they all bowed in respect of the great ruler.
“You might wonder why all of you can see me.” Quinlan said. “For now on I choose to reveal myself to everyone.”
“For a time, for soon evil will return to Neriwonda. Though Amarash was crushed, the Serpent’s Heart was transferred.”
“But cheer up, for it would be a long time before evil will return, and I will do what I can to prevent it.”
“Time has finally come for peace to reign again in Neriwonda.” Quinlan said.
“My heart is filled with joy on seeing the smile on you faces. Live in peace and make the most out of everything. I Quinlan will always be with you!” Quinlan then shined bright and turned into an eagle-shaped light as he flew away and vanished at the bright morning sky.
Drinn stood up and shouted “All hail Quinlan!”
“All hail Quinlan!” they all shouted in chorus, and Firolwen was filled with joy.
